Technology is somtimes available to many teachers, but not utilized because of lack of training.
Here are some ideas.
1. Have an in-service each time new equipment or software is available to the teaching staff. Offer training on the use of the equipment in the classroom. This is especially valuable when you get new equipment such as multimedia projectors, digital cameras, document cameras, etc.
2. During team meetings or grade level meetings, invite the school technologist to come and demonstrate the use of any equipment that your team is having trouble using.
3. Often we get emails telling us the names of websites available for use in our classrooms such as “Video Streaming” or “Learning A-Z”. They are not always used because teachers don’t have time to check them out and see if they will be useful for their students. As a grade level, each teacher can be responsible for researching and reviewing one of the programs or websites and sharing with the group their findings and telling how the program can benefit their particular students.
